What to expect from your first lesson.

Your first lesson at the Creative Voice Studio will be a trial lesson. This lesson will not be different from regular lessons in terms of the amount of vocal technique work. Even after your trial lesson, you can expect to see tangible improvements to your vocal technique. But in this trail lesson we will also set your unique goals and discuss any challenges you’ve faced to create your personalised learning plan.

 FAQs

  • Yes! Everyone is welcome: from a beginner who believes they can’t hit a note to an ambitious singer-songwriter. I’ll meet you on your level and bring you to the next!

  • Yes, absolutely. For many people, singing is very personal and emotional. Letting your voice be heard can feel vulnerable and sometimes too exciting.

In my lessons, I foster a safe space that is judgment-free, encouraging, and joyful. There is space for experimenting and nurturing your voice freely.

The traditional method of vocal coaching often starts with the assumption that mastering vocal technique is the only way to enjoy singing. In this approach, we would jump straight into technical work, which can feel overwhelming when dealing with anxiety about singing.

So, we flip this approach on its head. I believe that enjoyment is the key to unlocking your singing voice. We begin by working with your anxiety and mental blockages, creating a new mindset around singing, and silencing old voices that might have told you singing is not for you so that singing feels joyful right from the start. Once you feel comfortable and confident, we systematically work on your vocal technique.

  • Yes, it’s true: everyone can learn to sing! You might still believe in the myth that only talented people can master their voice. Of course, if you have talent and singing is a natural strength of yours, you have a headstart. But also people who don’t think of themselves as natural singers, can, through understanding how the voice works and practicing vocal technique methods, uncover and master their singing voice. Practicing a healthy vocal technique is a great foundation and contains working with your breath and breath support, body awareness, applying clear articulation, feeling into the resonance and placement of the voice, working on vocal fold functions, and dynamic and pitch control. This seems like a lot but, don’t worry: we break it down into short, effective, and attainable exercises. You will quickly hear the freeing effect they have on your voice.

  • You step into a joyful and encouraging space where your voice is welcome exactly as it is and enjoyment comes first! You start by taking a trial lesson, to see if you like to take lessons with me. We begin by talking about your vocal goals, challenges, and songs you would love to sing. Your goals might be to sing without strain, hit high notes with ease, blend head- and chest voice seamlessly or you simply want to feel more confident in your singing voice. Whatever it is, our work is personal and tailored to your voice!

We’ll start each lesson by warming up your voice and body. From there, we move into targeted technical exercises that support your unique goals. Then comes the heart of the lesson: singing your song. You apply the techniques you have learned and explore how to shape the song with your voice—adding texture and dynamics, stylizing the vocal runs, and most importantly how to bring out the emotions of the lyrics through your voice. Each lesson is a blend of playful discovery, focused technique, and artistic growth. You walk away with better skills and a deeper connection to your voice.

  • You choose the songs you’re going to sing. I will advise you on the dificulty level, if the melody range fits your voice and the key of the song. I also might bring suggestens of songs that I think will fit you well but it’s important to me that you’lllearn and sing the songs you love and connect with! I work in contamporary gengrs such as Pop, Soul, R’n’B, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Musical Theatre etc.

  • I teach students of all ages, starting at age 6. (Find all the information for young students under singing lessons for children.). You’re never too old for lessons. My oldest student was 85 and after working with me for a while, flew to Jamaica to record an album of known songs that she loved in a reggae arrangement. You’re never too old to realize your creative dreams.

Of course, I adapt my lessons to everyone’s physical and cognitive abilities. Each lesson is as unique as your voices, and that’s what I love about my job!

  • Yes, that is possible. You can take lessons together with your partner, friends or bandmates. There is space for up to 6 or 7 singers. For more information on the lesson price for groups bigger than two people, email me.

  • I recommend weekly or bi-weekly lessons. The key to effectively learning a new skill is consistency. You will receive short and effective exercises that you can practice daily for 5 minutes in between your lesson time. That said, I offer lesson packages, and you can plan your lesson time freely according to your schedule. That way you have maximum flexibility, if you don’t want a set weekly or bi-weekly time slot.

  • No, you’re not stuck to any subscriptions. You start by taking a trail lesson. If you then decided to take lessons with me, you can buy lesson packages. No strings attached. You can stop any time.

You find the options for the lesson packages here.

  • Yes, all my lesson offerings are available online via Zoom.
